Walid Batrawi is an award-winning Palestinian media and communications expert with over 30 years of experience in television, radio, print, and online media. Based in Palestine, he works as a consultant and trainer locally, regionally, and internationally. He holds a Master’s degree in Mass Communication and has managed and contributed to numerous media development projects across the Middle East and globally.

Batrawi’s training expertise spans a wide range of fields, including journalist safety and hostile environment awareness, cyber security, digital storytelling, mobile journalism, investigative reporting, journalism ethics, diversity in newsrooms, crisis communication, podcast production, and writing for radio and TV. He also specializes in covering sensitive topics such as elections, children and youth, and editorial standards.

He served as Country Director for BBC Media Action in Palestine from 2012 to 2017, and previously held positions with Internews Network and BBC World Service Trust. He has been a correspondent for both Al Jazeera English and BBC Arabic Service Radio and worked as a trainer and jury head with Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ).

In 2003, Batrawi was awarded the IFJ’s Natali Prize by the European Commission and the International Federation of Journalists for “Excellence in Reporting Human Rights, Democracy and Development” in the category of the Arab World, Iran, and Israel.
