Saad Hattar is a seasoned bilingual journalist, media trainer, and consultant with extensive experience in radio and print media. Over the course of his career, he has covered wars, conflicts, and elections in Jordan, Iraq, Syria, Palestine, and Israel, bringing a deep understanding of the region’s media landscape.

Hattar worked as an English and Arabic correspondent for Agence France Presse in Amman from 1987 to 1999 before joining the BBC Arabic Service (1999–2016), where he served as the head of the Baghdad Bureau during and after the 2003 Iraq war. In 2006, he co-founded the editorial department of Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ), establishing himself as a leader in investigative journalism in the Arab world.

Hattar’s consultancy expertise includes designing and delivering training programs for journalists, spokespersons, and policymakers. He has collaborated with organizations such as the Thomson Reuters Foundation, UNFPA, UNICEF, and other UN agencies to conduct workshops on investigative reporting, media ethics, and strategic communications. His training has equipped hundreds of professionals across the Arab region to navigate the complexities of media communication effectively.

He has also worked as a media consultant, revamping editorial content, restructuring newsrooms, and developing capacity-building strategies for media outlets in Jordan, Bahrain, and beyond.
