Reem’s work has taken her to Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Iraq, Morocco, Algeria, Sudan, and Yemen, providing her with a nuanced understanding of sociopolitical dynamics in the MENA region. She has led projects focused on institutional capacity building, gender mainstreaming, and policy formulation for governmental and non-governmental organizations. Her participatory methods emphasize community engagement, ensuring that solutions are informed by the lived experiences of those most affected.
Notably, Reem served as Gender Affairs Officer for the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), where she advanced women’s political participation and inclusion in peacebuilding processes. She also spearheaded evaluations and action plans for UNSCR 1325 implementation, developed gender analyses for organizations like GIZ and Danmission, and provided leadership training to Syrian refugee women leaders in Turkey with UN Women.
