Sabbagh Consultancy

Associate Consultants

Beginning as a volunteer 40 years ago in the villages of Upper Egypt, Patrick Crump has devoted his career and practice to promoting partnership and strengthening local development capacity and ownership.  He spent 20 years working with Save the Children, managing programmes, country offices, and headquarters departments; his last assignment was to develop Save the Children International’s partnership function that guides its 1,000+ partnerships globally. Patrick worked overseas for 25 years, in Egypt, Jordan, Georgia and elsewhere, and has worked with national and local CSOs ranging from community-based organisations to national umbrella federations.

Sabbagh Consulting comes up with results that are actually implementable. That is their strength compared to other consulting companies.

An American citizen currently residing outside Washington, DC, Patrick has been working as an international development consultant since 2019, focusing on partnership, localisation of humanitarian aid, and social inclusion.  A value-driven professional, his work is characterised by:

  • Participatory methods: Patrick has extensive experience as a trainer, facilitator, and strategic planner, using adult learning and group facilitation methods to draw out and build on participants’ experience, to foster constructive, inclusive dialogue and to build consensus;
  • Attention to context and diverse perspectives: In project and organisational evaluations and reviews he has used outcome harvesting, most significant change, participatory case studies, and appreciative inquiry to access diverse stakeholder perspectives and assemble inclusive analyses;
  • A collaborative, consultative style: Patrick has led or participated in diverse teams, and excels in cross-cultural and multi-stakeholder contexts. As a consultant, he has always maintained a utilisation focus to ensure that work meets client expectations.

Patrick was a Fulbright scholar, has a Master’s degree in Rural Development from the UK’s University of East Anglia, and a Bachelor’s degree from Williams College in Massachusetts, USA.  He is fluent and professionally competent in English, Arabic and French.
